On the house, you would think that everything would be going smoothly by now, right? Yea, the computer system went down at M & T bank, where I have my loan through, and so they are manually putting the data into the computer. It MIGHT be done by 3pm and record by 5pm. Well, I'll be at the airport then, so once again, I will get the keys when I return from my trip. *sigh* So now I get to go out of town and come home to the house, which I guess isn't too bad. It will mean that I am more focused on my trip and not thinking about what I could be doing at the house. I will get to do all of it when I return.
1st step will be to clean whatever mess they have left behind. I'll be going to Costco to get bleach wipes to clean the place. My Mom has offered to help clean. 2nd is smudging the place to cleanse the sellers' energy from the place! I have to talk to a friend to see if he will texture the ceiling. 3rd is to get rid of the outside cat door - that is a MUST before I can move in with the cats! I can hardly wait to rip out the fireplace that vents right back into the room, too. Painting will be next. Bedroom is first so that I can move in sooner and then get the apartment cleaned and ready for inspection for my deposit back. Then the painting in the living room. After the living room is painted, we'll be ripping out the carpet and putting down the hardwood flooring. Then we'll replace the light fixtures with what I've purchased. At that point, I think we'll be set for a while as I don't think I can afford to get the sofas that I want for the living room, at least, not without a generous gift from anyone.
The roses are not even budding; I wonder if my Dad & Jody's are... I will be putting my green house up, too. I have plenty of lavender and mint seeds to plant as well as a miniature pineapple that I've been rooting. Have I told you about that? I bought the whole plant with a fruit on it. After Mike and I ate the baby pineapple, I cut the top off and stuck it in some water to see if it would grow roots. You guessed it, it did! So now I have 2 plants instead of 1! And Mike was shocked that I would pay $25-30 for a single tropical fruit-bearing plant. hahaha! I love being able to grow things! It will take some time before either one will bear fruit, but I now have 2 that will. And then I'll have 4, and then 8, etc. Cool, no?
In any case, I hope to have tons of pictures from the BMT reunion and the house by Sunday night. I don't know that I will post all of them, so if there are any specific rooms you want to see, let me know and I'll either email them or post them on the blog.

Signing Papers
Well, that took about an hour. Needless to say, the sellers, once again, have crapped out on me. There was supposed to be a $900 check made out to me at the title company...you guessed it, it wasn't there. Dad would have a shit fit if he knew I signed all the papers without certified funds from the seller or Fidelity Title company - sorry Dad.
Hopefully, my agent will come through once again with flying colors with a check and the house keys TOMORROW! Yes, she said she'd come to my work to deliver both in person. Connie Smith (aka Constance Smith) is the best! I have nothing bad to say about my experience with her.
The other agents and the sellers, of course, are a completely separate story. I don't like to put bad plugs out there, but you can ask me and I will tell you. I swear to the god\goddess that if the check doesn't come through with shining colors, there is going to be hell to pay! I am a witch, damn it, and if I have to I will place out in the universe that they get what they deserve! Wait, I just did! What do you know...I leave it up to the universe to decide what they deserve; may it be swift and just. I just hope to god\goddess that they don't leave the place completely trashed! Sad, isn't it?
Anyway, as you can see, despite the best agent I could have asked for, I still had to deal with shit from the other side. Wouldn't it be nice if people could all just get along and have every one's best interest at heart?
On the interesting side, the appraisal that came in was LOWER than they were asking for the house, and I paid less than that, which is nice. Everything is in order, and my mortgage payments will be about $10 less than what I'm paying for rent right now. It's a scary thing, investing in something that will eventually be mine and be in debt for it. A new experience for me.
In any case, I'll let you know about the keys and check tomorrow...I hope.

So What is a Final Walk Through?
So, here it is, the day of my final walk through. A day where I am supposed to be able to walk through to examine any possible damages left by the sellers before I sign the papers. So that means their belongings should be out and the place ready for me to inspect, take tons of pictures, and say that it's ok in the condition that it's in. HA! They had boxes and things EVERYWHERE! It was a complete waste of my agent's, Mike's, and my time! What a nightmare...ok, not that bad, but now I have to sign the papers and hope to god they don't totally trash the place before they go.
So, in lieu of having nothing accomplished by seeing the house in such condition, Mike and I went out to dinner. While we had been at the house, we got a sample and the name of the brand of hardwood flooring the couple got from Carpet One that has been used in the kitchen and dining room. So we called Carpet One to see if they were still open. Luckily for us, they were. So we rushed down to see if they still carried or could order the hickory solid hardwood floor. WHAT LUCK! Despite the fact that the sellers told us they didn't carry it anymore, they have plenty IN STOCK! So Mike and I decided that we would reserve enough to do the front room and the hall. Who knows, we may even have enough to do the stairs leading up from the front door! There is some extra flooring from the sellers that we have also acquired. So, in spite of it starting off to be a wasted evening, we made the best of it. And the price is UNBELIEVABLE! If you look at Lowes or Home Depot, it's $5-8 per square foot. Try $3 per square foot on for size! So, here's Carpet One's plug.
I also recommend Lowes for lighting (and here's their plug). I was able to get beautiful fixtures to replace the ones in the kitchen and dining room on clearance, but even not on clearance, their lighting is a great deal. They also have incredibly helpful staff. I am going to have a one of a kind ceiling fan in the kitchen! I'll tell you all about it when it's done. I got my entry way chandelier at Galaxy Lighting. Beautiful lights and a little expensive, but I was able to get my light fixture on clearance there, too!
So when, you ask, are there going to be pictures? Probably Sunday, May 3rd. I know, much later than even I wanted, but alas, I cannot help the stupidity of the sellers and their agents. *sigh* Mike and I are chomping at the bit to get in there and start making the house OURS! I can hardly stand the wait!
Well, tomorrow is yet another day - I sign the papers for the house! I'll let you know all about my new found first-time debt tomorrow. Yea, that thought still scares me. Oh well, it was bound to happen at some point in time.

My Workin' Life
I feel so alone here at work with no one talking to me; feeling alienated from "the group" by my constant need to make myself valuable so as not to be the 1st nurse thought of to lay off.
Do the others know how bad it really is? Do they know how scary that this environment has become with the patient census so low and budget tight? I wonder how on earth they sleep well at night.
I work hard every day I'm here, and I always have in the back of my mind that fear of loosing my job because there's not enough work to do. Keeping busy is the biggest thing to see me through.
I decorate for the seasons to keep the treatment room looking festive. I hope my extra effort is being accepted.
With colors so bright and cheerful scattered throughout the room; it almost makes me forget about all the job worries, gloom, and doom.
So I sit here at my desk looking out at this crazy scene and wonder what it all may mean.
My future is certain and uncertain all at once as things keep moving forward and I still have my job. I can't think of any other way it could be, because if everything were certain, I'd probably be dead.

Inspection Time
We had the house inspection yesterday. Dan Hess is the man to go to for this! He spent 3 hours going over the entire house! He didn't find anything major, just tons of little things. We could have the owner fix them before closing, but Mike would rather have it done right the first time. Why? because the things that are wrong, the owner did. Therefore, Mike wants to do it all himself...with the help of some of our qualified and talented friends, of course.
The plan is to close on Wednesday the 29th of April at 4pm. Then Mike and I are off to California for my BMT reunion, and of course I have md appointments. When we get back, the house is OURS! There is some serious painting that needs to be done. There is also the ceilings that have to be scraped - they have that popcorny sparkly stuff that may have asbestos in them, so we want those gone, too. So if anyone is available and willing to help at all, please let me know.
Of course, I will be taking before and after pictures and share them with all of you. I think I'm getting better at that...right?
I hope you all have a great Easter Weekend!

And the Winner is...
Well, Mike and I went house hunting this past weekend. We looked at 7 more houses. Guess what? You got it - WE FOUND A HOUSE! You can go to www.utahrealestate.com and put in MLS # 859452 to see it. Granted I'm not fond of the outside of the house, but the inside more than compensates for it. That and we can eventually change it. So, I put an offer on the house, and they accepted it same day! My realestate agent said that the husband wanted to counter, but the wife said to take the offer - so they did! We are planning on closing at the end of April. My lease at my apartment is up mid-June, so that gives me plenty of time to paint a few rooms, pack, move into the house, and then make sure that the apartment is nice and clean. Mike is planning on moving in about 1 month after I get settled. I can hardly wait! After that, we spend time finishing his house and get it ready to sell. As you can tell, I'm very excited!
I know that most of you are now asking when Mike and I are getting married. We are planning for next year. We want a late spring-early summer wedding. It would be too rushed if we tried to do that this year, so the plan is next year.
I can't think of much else. I hope that you are all happy and doing well.

Is the Suspense Killing you?
So the house I wanted....I didn't get it. My realestate agent, Connie, called and left a voice message and numeric page for the other realestate agent, Jill, to hear the results of my offer. Jill text messaged Connie to call and talk to the seller. The seller had never heard of Connie or me, nor had he even seen our offer. In fact, he said he had accepted an offer 2 weeks ago! Needless to say, Connie is pissed! Understandably so, too. She's called Jill's brokerage firm to comlpain about the unprofessinal behavious and conduct this woman had displayed. While I'm dissappointed that I did not get the house, I am happy that I at least tried for it. I now don't have to wonder "what if" on a house that I really liked.
I am going house hunting again this weekend. Connie and I are going to see 8 houses tomorrow! Mike is planning on joining us as he was out of town the last time Connie and I went out. One has a green house, which many of you know I've also always wanted. Nothing looks as nice on the computer as the other house, but there are some potentials out there.
I hope you all have had a good week and are planning on a fun weekend.
