Lost?

I feel lost in cyberspace...kind of. I have not kept up with emails or my blog, and I'm sorry about that.

Mike and I have spent the entire weekend painting, and we're still not done. Good news is he invested in an airless paint sprayer. It made painting Monday SO much easier and faster! We, or rather mostly he, was able to get the vaulted ceilings primed in 2 hours, and then moved to the office room and got the entire room primed in 30 minutes! After 4 hours, Mike then painted the vaulted ceilings, and by the end of that we were both done for the day. I have spent the last few nights (about 4 hours after work) painting in the living room. We need to clean up the over spray and dust that has accumulated so that we can get the hardwood floors done. My chocolate brown accent wall and the light tan that I've chosen for the front room look great! And the bedroom looks fabulous! Pictures will be coming along soon, promise! I've taken some of the downstairs and the master bedroom. I just have to get them onto the computer - the time, however is escaping from me faster than I have been ready for.

We did load up Mike's truck with boxes from my apartment on Monday, and I unloaded them while he primed the ceilings. All of the boxes are going into the downstairs for the time being. We are not bringing most of furniture in until we get the kitchen, living room, and office painted, carpets cleaned, and hardwood floor put in. Hopefully that will be done by the weekend! Ok, the hardwood floors MIGHT be done by the weekend, but it may be the weekend after that. In any case, I am hoping to be able to move furniture into the bedroom this weekend. I just can't wait to move in and only live in one place.

I have been going crazy this week - how crazy you ask? I started this entry on Tuesday and have been updating and changing it as things have been happening. Work has been just peachy - Thursday, Friday, and Tuesday we had patients react to a biologic-chemotherapy named Rituxan. The one on Thursday was mild, the 2 on Tuesday were moderate, and the one on Friday was severe. It's been interesting and crazy, but at least the days are passing by quickly.
Speaking of which, it's crazy busy again today, so I have to get going.

Bunny Eating Wolf Pack!

Yes, there was a wolf pack at work yesterday - they devoured my chocolate bunny! The confirmed culprits are Doug, Renae, Darren, and Ty. I don't know of any other potential suspects at this time, but I'm still investigating. Needless to say, I am very unhappy. Granted it was milk chocolate, but it was CHOCOLATE! Come on, how many people eat another person's chocolate! Let alone, a choco-holic's chocolate! I even have chocolate in my drawer that I share! There's no need to steal other chocolate that was given to me. *sigh* I get no respect or thoughtfulness around here. Supposedly Renae is going to get me another chocolate bunny - a likely story! How on earth is she going to find another chocolate bunny this time of year? I have strongly hinted...ok I stated, this time it had better be dark chocolate. We'll have to wait and see. and OH the guilt trip and jokes that are going around...just too much fun. At least someone brought in some yummy powdered sugar covered brownie bites today! It's been a slower day, but stressful, and not because of the missing bunny!

On a more positive note, I am making progress on my house. The downstairs is DONE! I will be taking pictures soon. Mom and Steve are coming over to help me paint the master bedroom tomorrow night. We'll see how much we get done as I'm going to be at work late tonight - like out about 6pm instead of 5pm. I am planning on priming the master bathroom myself tonight. I can't wait to be done and moved in now.

Ok, I have to keep moving.

What a Weekend!

WOW! What a weekend! I don't remember exactly what I did on Friday, but I know what I did Saturday and Sunday!

Saturday Mike and I went to the house and made a list of the things we needed to get to make the plans for the weekend happen. This included paint, some supplies, the hardwood floor, and a few other things. We got back to the house around 12-1pm. We finished preparing for painting and got started on priming about 2-3pm. We didn't stop until we were both starving - we looked at the clock and it was 6-6:30pm! I called Dominos for some pizza while we finished up the priming in the downstairs. I don't like to call it a basement because it's really more of a lower level as the windows look outside to the yards (ie are above ground) and let in quite a bit of light. We left the house around 8:30-9pm and crashed into bed.

Sunday, we both got up early so that we could do some cutting in (ie doing the trim) before other people got there with rollers to paint the walls. I got started about 8:45am, Mike showed up about an hour later, and then the party really started about 11:30am. A BIG THANK YOU to Stephanie Colemere for organizing the party and all of the work she did painting the downstairs! She did about 3 hours straight while Mike and I finished the cutting in! Thank you to her as well for my birthday present - I have already been through a small amount of dirt, and can hardly wait to do some more! Stephanie also made a delicious chocolate cake with chocolate frosting...yummy. She's just amazing. Thank you also to Linda Staples for not just painting, but also giving the property and house a blessing. Thank you to Pat Shook for all her help painting. Thank you to Ray Shook for helping Mike with the scaffolding and priming. Thank you to Tika and Linda for stopping by with some salad and for a tour of the house. Thank you to my Dad and Jody for bringing meats and cheeses and stopping by for a tour of the house. Thank you to Linda Staples and Pat and Ray Shook for their generous gifts for the house! Thank you to my Mom and Steve for coming by, bringing chocolate stuff, taking a tour of the house, and helping with some priming.

So what got done on Sunday, you ask? Well, we got the down stairs painted, although my craft room needs a second coat of paint, and the upstairs started on priming. That's quite a bit since we are also painting the ceilings!

So what is the next move? Well tonight Mike and I are going to the opera with my mom and Steve. Nice little social-lite break. Then tomorrow it's back to the painting races. Dave wants to put the hardwood floor in this weekend, so we have to get the front room done before then. I was hoping to move in this weekend, but that all depends on whether or not we get the master bedroom painted this week. Mom is going to come out on Tuesday and help me by cleaning the down stairs carpets so that I can start moving boxes in.

I am SO glad that we aren't doing a major remodeling job! I am anxiously awaiting getting the painting done! At least the ceilings look fabulous! His name is Mike Kennely, and if you want his number, let me know - he's a hard worker, efficient, and professional. I will always recommend Dave Holdaway Jr for carpentry! He does an incredible job, is professional, and efficient. In fact, he and Mike are going to take care of the fireplace that Mike and I found behind the false wall. I told them it's all them as long as it matches the colors in the room, they're fine.

Well, I don't have anything else to report, so I'll get the downstairs finished and take pictures before I move anything in.

And the Story Continues...

Well the house is coming along nicely.

The ceilings look FABULOUS! I will be posting pictures of them as soon as I paint them, which might be a while but hopefully not too long. Things are just moving along so smoothly, and will continue to go that way, I hope. I am sure that you are going to love the big changes that Mike and I are making in the house.

Right now we are working on the inside. I think either in the fall or next spring\summer we will paint the outside. However, I would like nice couches before then, so it may be a year or 2 before the outside of the house gets painted. I really can't wait to get things done and show you pictures!

Mom came over Tuesday to help me wash the walls and ceilings downstairs so that they are ready for the painting party on Sunday. I can hardly wait! As soon as I get the downstairs painted, I can start moving furniture and boxes in. I also can't wait to paint my bedroom. Once I do that, I can actually move in! I still have to buy primer and the paint, but I already know what I want, so it's not that bad...just kind of expensive. Thank you to Grandpa Jack and Granny Marilyn for my birthday gift! That is going right into the house for paint.

So, we took out the false wall in the living room and found a real fireplace! Granted I don't have the means right now to fix it up nice, but that will come in time. Mike and our friend, Dave, who is also a carpenter have been looking at it as a blank canvas. I have told them they have free creative license with that space as long as it matched the colors of the room. I just can't think of anything to do with it right now. I didn't know that it was there to be played with or fixed, so I don't have any thoughts in my head about what I want it wot look like. I trust the 2 of them to do a great job, too.

I can't think of anything else. I hope to see you on Sunday!

And So It Begins

Well, I found someone to take care of the ceilings upstairs His name is Mike, not my Mike; I'll let you know the kind of work he does before I put a plug out there for him.. I don't know if I've told you about the ceilings. The 3 upstairs bedrooms have the old popcorn ceilings, which are easy to take care of. The living room, on the other hand, is going to be more challenging but doable. It used to have the popcorn ceilings, but the sellers scraped that off, but they did not texture or sand, so you can see seams and it looks terrible in light. Mike says he can do a bedroom a day, and to fix the living room will take 3-4 days. He started today with the master bedroom, so I'll get to see his work and let you know tomorrow. Since I'm going out of town for a few days, that means it will be almost done when I get back.

This also means that as he finishes rooms, as long as the ceilings are of quality, I can start to paint rooms! Of course, I do need to wash the walls first. Mom is needing something to do on Saturday the 16th while Steve takes care of some non-egg laying chickens. She has offered to come and help me wash walls then.

I may be having a painting party that weekend and for my birthday, too. Yes, I turn the big 30 this year, and my dear friend and massage therapist, Stephanie Colemere (who is fabulous at her job by the way), is wanting to organize the party. I'll be talking with her and sending out an email to those who may be interested in joining us for some fun. Let me know ahead of time if you are interested in it!

My Mike has already torn out the shelves and cabinets that were in the garage. One set we have left in place because they are actually good and in a good place. The others were pieced together from old doors and scrap wood. There was a window that was blocked, and that of course is now unblocked and lets light in. It's really a nice garage with all of that junk out of there. Of course, I'm about to put a lot of stuff back in while I am getting the rest of the house ready. At least the shelves will look nice and things will be organized.

As I have taken tons of before pictures, this does mean that there is a scrapbook in the future about my 1st house. I can hardly wait for things to be pulled together and in place. The house will basically be done by the time we finish with the things we are putting money into up front (ie before I move in, which makes everything so much easier). The only other things we have considered are remodleing the bathrooms and putting hardwood floors in the upstairs bedrooms. That will take some time, though. However, once the ceilings, paint, and hardwood floors in the living room are done, the house is basically set! This of course means that I will not be purchasing new furniture this year. I was hoping to get some nice sofas for the front room and patio furniture for the deck, but alas, that will have to wait for next year. I am hoping to move in by the end of May, thus allowing me time to really clean my apartment and get my securtiy deposit back.

I'm off to the races...or rather cleaning.

House Pictures As Promised

Mike and I spent an hour walking around the house taking pictures and making plans. There's a lot of work to do, but not as much as if we had the other house. I took well over 100 pictures, so I have only posted a few here. Let me know if there is a specific room you would like to see more of!
