The answer is YES! I know it’s been quite some time since I last wrote. I’ve been busy at work, which has been a while since we were this busy. That and the house…
The house is coming along slowly at this point. I am having to straighten up the garage - again – so that Mike and I can put up shelves so that I don’t have to move ALL of the boxes upstairs (only to have to move most of them back downstairs after the carpet has been taken care of). *sigh* We have been focusing on the painting of the upstairs this last weekend to get the front room ready for the hardwood floor to be installed. I only hope that I have enough after the flood to do it! I have to make some phone calls to see what on earth is going on with Utah Disaster Klean-up and Sandy City and when and what is going to be done and paid for.
OH! And I have yet to receive my federal tax refund! Damn feds. Thank goodness for my dad and his ability to figure out what is going on there!
The cats appear to be back to normal, with the exception of still running when anyone, yes even me, comes in the house. The Cat Calm CD from Bed, Bath, & Beyond (BB&B) has been very helpful. They also have one for dogs, if you have a dog and think it might be helpful. Tiger is actually sleeping with Mike and me! Chester is becoming less shy around Mike, too.
Ok, you all know that I don’t like to put bad plugs out there, but I’m going to do it anyway. Pinnacle Highland Apartments – don’t do it! It was a nice place to live, but are thieves! First of all, they have some how screwed up my apartment’s water and trash bill set up – someone else has been paying my water and sewer bills, then there is still a remaining balance for the last 3 months! So I’m on the phone with ISTA trying to figure out what went awry. I don’t argue that I owe money, but I want to make sure I pay them what I owe, not what the management thinks I owe. So, there’s a mess there. They also want me to pay about an additional $300 – they claim that because I lived there less than a year that I have to pay for repainting the apartment ($300) and that the carpets, regardless if I cleaned them or not, have to be cleaned professionally after each person’s occupancy! They also claim that these are standard fees that they charge! Oh heck no! Those were not in my contract, and therefore, there’s no way I think I should be paying for these “standard fees” they are wanting to charge me! Thank goodness for an uncle who is a lawyer and is supporting me in this messy adventure!
The other that, if you are in Utah, you have to be wary of is a married couple Realtors – Pam and Elliot Abbott. Why you ask? Didn’t you buy the house they were selling? Why yes, I did buy the house they were selling. But as time has passed, there have been a few things that of disgust that have arisen. I told you we found the shotgun, right? Well, Elliot said, “Hell, I would have kept it!” Can you imagine someone so dishonest as to keep something that was not theirs? Not to mention the laws with firearms, etc. In addition, with the house having flooded, my dad is checking to see if legally the disclosure was enough information for me to have to buy the house. So, in that disclosure we have the knowing of the sellers – Alan Hovious – and Pam and Elliot, of the flood history of the house and severity of the floods.
To end on a positive note, I just got the call from the gentleman making my hand drum – IT’S DONE! He’s hoping to get it in the mail today, and I hope to see it by the end of the week. I can hardly wait! Mike and I are even about to finish the healing\meditation room, too. It’s PERFECT timing!
Once again, I had better get back to work. Hope you are all enjoying the warm and sunny weather.
HUGS!
