and the Holidaze begins

Well, I hope you all had a very Happy Thanksgiving. I was unfortunately sick - tummy sick. I got to enjoy company, but not much in terms of food. I was up half the night sick, but my body woke me up at 4:30am and was feeling great and ready to go - so what did I do? Went shopping!

Michaels had a HUGE deal on cricut cartridges - $30 instead of $90! Yea, couldn't miss out on that one! I went to my mom's store in Draper and there was a line of about 6-8 people already there. so I got out and stood in line with everyone else. Now, here's the thing - Michaels was open from 6pm-9pm on Thanksgiving! Yea, that's when the sale on the cartridges started. I wasn't sure how many there would be left - hence the need to get in line. Anyway, it was about 5:40 when I got in line. Someone asked what a cricut was. I was quick to answer - your own personal computerized dicut machine. Someone said they had never heard it put that was & that it was the best she had ever heard. I asked if she wanted one and she wasn't sure - I was able to tell her that the best deal if you wanted the Expressions (the big one that I have) the best deal was at Provo Craft's store Roberts. Other than that it was a good deal to get the others at Michaels. One girl said, "My, you have done your homework, haven't you." I agreed with her and also told them that the best deal on cartridges was Michaels but that Roberts had some that Michaels didn't have yet, so if you really wanted them to go and get them at Roberts.

About 5 min later I saw my mom in the front of the store getting the registers ready for the day. I told everyone to say Hi to my mom, and everyone began knocking on the windows. My mom turned around and shook her head no and pointed to her watch indicating that we had more time to wait. Everyone began to point in my direction and she came over to the window and saw me - she just rolled her eyes and had a huge smile on her face then turned away. It was fun.

So, I get into mom's store and they are out of Tinkerbell - the main one that I had wanted. Well, since I was there and they still had the other Disney
cartridges, I got those. I then dashed off to Roberts thinking that the Sugarhouse Michaels was also out, and thinking that everyone else was also dashing to Roberts to get cartridges before they all ran out. So I get to Roberts and it's still empty compared to Michaels. I get in and go to the front counter and ask if they have Tinkerbell. They did. The woman that was checking me out and I talked about Michaels and the sale. She said she had been to the Sugarhouse one the night before and there were plenty of cartridges and not many people. I decided to buy the one so that if they were out, then I still had one. I was about to leave when I realized that there were 2 more that I had wanted - Storybook and C-mas Solutions. So I bought those too.

So I race off to the Sugarhouse Michaels and low and behold they still have plenty of cartridges and not many people. I got Tinkerbell and Cars (cars for my mom). I was shaking with excitement. I got the number for the Draper store and called to talk to my mom - she was busy and I tried to leave her a message - tell your customers as they check out that if they want cartridges to go to the Sugarhouse store, they have plenty. I then headed back to Roberts to return the one Tinkerbell. Turns out that they wouldn't do returns until after 12pm.

I went back later that evening and returned it. The cashier asked if there was anything wrong with it - I told her no, that I got it at Michaels for $30 instead of $50. "Oh" was her reply. Honestly, how can you beat that price!

So, Saturday I took my cats to get their teeth cleaned, and boy has that been an adventure. Tiger is having fear bladder problems. Good thing have my own washer & dryer in my apartment. I got them back and they have been severely out of it for almost 24 hours. They are more awake and alert as I'm writing this, but not enough to fight me on the bath. They haven't been able to use the litter box. Oh, and the upset tummies! Called my vet and he said that it would take a good 24 hours after I picked them up for them to be back to normal. I also learned that I can give my cats pepto or maalox for their upset tummy. That has worked really well. So now they are clean and kind of mad at me, but at least they don't smell anymore.

I have been thankful for the 4 day weekend and am not looking forward to going back to work. I would love to only work 4 days a week instead of 5, but I don't think they'll let me do that because it always leaves us short handed.

Well, that about wraps things up for a bit.

to be thankful

Less than a week before Thanksgiving, and I'm already giving thanks - for my job, for not being the pedestrian hit in the cross walk tonight....I'm finding plenty to be thankful for.

I have been attempting to conquer my to do list that is miles long. I almost bought 2 more books tonight but then remembered Christmas was on the way and my siblings need something inexpensive to think about. The Quantum Enigma - there are a couple of books by that title, but there are 2 in particular that I'm interested in. Go ahead and amazon it and try to guess which ones.

I've done really good at not spending too much money as of yet this season - I do already have plans to embroider things for my family since I purchased the embroidery attachment for my sewing machine. ;)

Speaking of the season, here's something to think about and do - I know I'm going to make a few to send. Yea Cricut!

Well, I'm enjoying a nice glass of some yummy dessert wine - Electra Red - and just relaxing. Mike is over and we are watching planets - Jupiter and I think Venus, but it's something we are debating. We'll find out in a few minutes when he looks it up in a magazine\star chart.

The kitties are doing great. I took a self care day yesterday, and they LOVED it! I got a lot accomplished - slept in until 10:30-11am, did dished, laundry, finished shredding papers, and all that kind fo stuff - after which I took care of myself by going to a massage. Really good for my popped ribs. Yes, I did it again. I'm using essential oils and other modalities to heal them. Doing a fine job, too. It's almost been 2 weeks and the pain is only when I laugh (or sneeze or have the hiccups). They are still popping and clicking which I HATE! It's just nauseating to feel and hear.

The verdict is in - it IS Venus in the sky! Yea high school astronomy! Thank you to my teacher! Thank you to not losing that part of my memory - something chemo cannot touch! ;)

Ok, I'm going to end it here. Mike & I are going to watch a movie.
Love to all of you.

Well, I've been a busy little bee; with work, play, and all that jazz, this is the first time I've taken to update my blog. Of course, this comes at the prodding of Stephanie.

I am almost done with my king sized quilt. I cut the binding and sewed it on. All I have left to do is finish sewing the binding into place - long story short, though, I am learning I need to take a class in hand sewing. In the meantime, I am going to pay someone to finish it for me. I've spent a ton of time and money in my quilt, and I'm not about to ruin it by not being able to finish it right.

I have picked up knitting - yea, like I need something else to do with my time. I find it relaxing to a degree because I can take it with me to anyone's house and be able to do it there. Can't really do that with my sewing anymore, and scrapbooking is all good and fun when there's a crop, but haven't had one of those yet.

As for my job, I'm getting my feet under me. We had a day from HE double hockey sticks on Friday. I survived, but let's just say I came home and had a glass of wine. I like my job and the people I work with. I still hate working 5 days a week, but I hope to either get used to it, or something else better will come down the line. Most Utah hospitals won't hire new people for day shift - there is this whole pay your dues thing by working night shift and then earning your seniority up to day shift. So unless that changes any time soon, I'll probably be stuck working 5 days a week.

Mike & I finished hanging pictures in my apartment today. Audrey Hepbrun looks fabulous on my living room wall! I also bought a lamp for the living room as the light from the ceiling fan was very poor. We found out today that the bulbs in there were only 40 watt! Yea, let's just say that we replaced those with some 60 watt. That along with the new lamp, which is lovely by the way - thank you World Market - I can actually do crafts in my living room while watching tv now.

Speaking of TV, I don't really have it. I cannot get satellite, and I don't want cable. I hear horror stories from people about cable. So, I just watch movies on my computer. It's really nice because I've invested in my computer and sound system. It'll do until I buy a house. Yes, I'm planning on buying a house. I'm thinking next spring. Yea, Mike and I have talked about location and what we'd like it to look like. It is and will remain interesting.

The cats are doing well. They are acting a bit silly - hiding under the futon. I'm not exactly sure why, but there you have it.

I've enjoyed the latest snow storm. The mountains look BEAUTIFUL!!!!! *sigh*

Well, that about catches you up to my adventures thus far. Hope you have a great day.
