Well, as you can see I have not updated my blog in about 2 weeks. I have been one crazy busy bee! I’ve been traveling, packing, cleaning, moving, painting…and the list goes on and on.
The House (no, I have no current pictures…long story to be revealed) - downstairs got flooded the night I left\morning after I left for my trip to Orcas Island (2 Wednesdays ago). how did I find this out, you ask - my neighbors called the city, and the city called me - I was just outside of Seattle when they called. It's a long story, but the short of it is - I called Mike to see if he had left his keys and garage door opener at home (he was also out of town, but for a memorial service); he had; called dad (HOORAY for Daddies!) and he was able to pick them up and meet the city at the house to get things straightened out and cleaned up. The city is paying for clean-up and restoration - which I am planning on including half of the hardwood flooring that, despite being up on a palate, was ruined. My poor cats have been traumatized by the fans that the disaster clean-up crew had going for 4-5 days. I did purchase a cd from Bed, Bath, & Beyond (BB&B) called cat calm - they also have one for puppy calm, if you are interested. The cat calm was great for Tiger and Chester - they were able to calm down and snuggle easily and not freak out around Mike. Other things are not completely destroyed, thank goodness. My house, though, is now a complete disorganized mess instead of an organized mess. At least the master bathroom is now put back together - yes, the toilet was covered in silicon (a BIG plumbing no-no), so Mike pulled it out and cleaned it up. and of course, the list of things to do continues on... *sigh*
I thoroughly enjoyed my annual trip to Orcas Island for the Therapeutic Touch (TT) workshops. I had a fabulous experience, as always, and I am so happy that I was able to go for at least one of the 2 weeks. My dear friend, Dee (Dolores Krieger, co-founder of TT), and I were able to spend some quality time together, which was wonderful! She is pretty sure that this is the last summer of workshops that she will be attending, which is sad for us but infinitely good for her. At one point I asked her when was the last time she received TT as I always saw her giving and never receiving. She said she couldn’t remember. This is one thing that screams to me that it’s time she started doing things for her. Besides, she turns 88 on Aug. 1! It’s just time.
My best friend, Stephanie, is back in town! We spent last night doing things we have always done together – went to Ocean City for a dinner of pot stickers and wonton soup; went home for ice cream dessert, went for a 1-1.5 hour walk, came back to her house and played speed scrabble…let me say that leaving was hard and coming to work today was even harder knowing that I could be at her house playing speed scrabble or sewing or out hiking…nevertheless, I have a mortgage to pay, hence I showed up at work.
I hope you all have been well and to hear from you soon!

And Time Keeps Flyin' By
So, it's been a while since I last updated my blog...sorry. Of course, I have been madly packing, moving, and cleaning the apartment. That is FINALLY done! Finished it off yesterday. Mike and I are both relieved that the most time sensitive stuff is done. All I have left to do is check the mailbox one last time, and then turn in the keys and garage door opener.
The bedroom is mostly organized. The office is kind of organized. My room for sewing and scrap booking is an organized mess. The family room downstairs is just a mess - full of boxes and nothing sorted into where they will go. The front room upstairs is still waiting on the floor, which is ok at this time.
I decided to take Mike and myself out for a nice sit down dinner at Red Lobster last night. At first Mike was resistant because he was in the working mode and didn't want to loose that. In the end, though, he loved the ability to sit down, relax, enjoy a hot meal, and not have to cook or clean up. I figured we deserved it since we've been going non-stop for about 5-6 weeks. Let me tell you, the food tasted FABULOUS!
I still have plenty to do before I go back up to Orcas - oil change in the car, tires checked, laundry...I don't really have time to stop even at work! I slept through my alarm this morning, and was about 25 min late to work. It's not really late because they plan on me between 8-8:30, but I was aiming for 8, especially since Doug isn't here today. It's bee crazy busy, too. *sigh* No rest for the workaholics...at least the crazy homeowner trying to get the place looking nice and working full time and not taking the time off from work to do any of it. ;)
Ok, I have to keep moving or I might fall asleep.

Air Show
As promised, here are pictures from the air show that I experienced the other night.
First, of course, is the lightening.

Then a couple of pictures of the fueling plane and 4 fighter jets.

Moving Already?!
Yes, it's time to get moving! It has come upon me too quickly, and yet slow enough. We are basically done painting the major rooms. I have been told I have been bold in my color choices and that they look great! Yes, I know, pictures, you scream, pictures! Let me move in first, and then I'll be able to send them.
I am getting stressed about moving and being able to get it done before I go back up to Orcas again. My lease is up while I'm gone, so I have 9 more days to get it all done! I'm beginning to wonder if I'm going to be able to do it. Sunday I was thinking I'd only be able to empty the garage at my apartment of boxes. Turns out we did that AND moved my bed and sewing table! I did not spend the night at the house because 1) I wanted to be around the cats as their world is now upside down like mine 2) I was too tired, and 3) I just wasn't ready (no clothes, shower stuff, etc). I am going to have to bring more boxes from the house to the apartment and continue madly packing! I don't think I need to be organized at this point - I just need to get it done. It's mostly things I have been using and just haven't packed yet. I wish I could have today off to do it. Even if I get a half day in, that would be ok. Mike and I were up and moving things Sunday - we woke up at 6AM and didn't stop until 8PM. *sigh* yea, I think I'm beginning to panic about it.
OH! Sleeping on the floor wasn’t going to happen again! So the cats and I are now moved in as of last night. Of course, it was pouring rain, but we got it done.. AHhhhh! Yes, I'm wishing I wasn't working today. Ok, maybe I can get off early and then things will be ok. Of course, this week BITES in terms of hours! We are starting about 1-2 hours later than usual because there is only 1 MD here the first few days - so I'm going to be short there. THEN, we have low patient treatment census, so I'll be able to get off early, but it will cost me big time. Of course, I'll be short when I go to Orcas anyway, so this month just basically sux $$ wise. I keep telling myself that afterwards, things are going to be great for the next year! I don't have any other time off planned, and then I have "regular" hours I will be working, so things will be ok.
On another note, the local air force did circle flybys for about 1 hour last night. Yes, got some great pictures that will be coming soon. They did it before the major thunder\lightening storm. That of which I was blessed, or rather totally lucky, to have gotten my first ever picture of a lightening strike! There were about 12 that I could have gotten, but only was able to actually capture one. THAT will be coming soon, too. It’s just AWESOME!
Ok, I’ve got to get working.
